Tvoy Dom mulls acquiring Russia-based IKEA plants
MOSCOW, Jun 17 (PRIME) -- Russian furniture retailer Tvoy Dom is considering buying local plants of Sweden's Ikea, spokeswoman for the company Amina Tagiyeva told PRIME on Friday.
“We are discussing various options and considering proposals. First of all, we are ready to support the local furniture plants, which were hurt most. If they are unable to find alternative sales points, they can face bankruptcy soon. To prevent it, large market participants should support the local producers,” she said.
On Wednesday, Ikea said it would scale down its business in Russia, which would include the sale of all of company's four facilities in the Leningrad, Kirov and Novgorod regions.
